WHOIS Lookup

Look up domain and IP registration data (registrar, dates, nameservers, status) using RDAP, the modern WHOIS replacement, directly from your browser.

Uses the RDAP protocol (the modern WHOIS replacement) via rdap.org, which routes to the registry for the queried TLD. Availability depends on the registry supporting CORS.

FAQ

What is RDAP?

RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the modern, structured replacement for WHOIS. It returns JSON instead of free text and uses HTTPS, making it more reliable and machine-readable.

Why do some lookups return no data?

Not every registry supports RDAP with CORS enabled, and privacy rules mean some registration data is redacted. When that happens you’ll see an error or minimal results.

Can I see the registrant’s personal info?

Usually not. ICANN requires registrars to redact personal data from Whois/RDAP results — you’ll typically see the registrar and status rather than a contact name.

How is this different from a DNS lookup?

DNS tells you technical records (where email goes, which IPs serve the site). WHOIS/RDAP tells you administrative data — who registered the domain and when.
