FAQ

Are these tokens actually random?

Yes. They are produced by crypto.getRandomValues, a cryptographically secure random source backed by your device’s operating system entropy. They are unpredictable to attackers.

Hex vs Base64 URL — which should I use?

URL-safe Base64 encodes more entropy per character, so tokens are shorter at the same strength. Use hex if your system expects a hexadecimal format; otherwise URL-safe Base64 is a good default.

Can I use this to generate passwords?

You can, but Random Token Generator just produces raw randomness. For a password you typically want the strength checker’s guidance, or set an appropriate length here and treat the output as case-sensitive.

Why would I pick the JWT option?

The JWT (HS256) mode signs your custom payload JSON with a secret, producing a complete, valid JWT — handy for testing tokens without a separate signing setup.
